Lewis Karate Schools Blog: January Week 3 – Goal Setting

“Goals that are not written down are just wishes.” – Fitzhugh Dodson

At Lewis Karate Schools in Barrie, we believe goal setting is the foundation for success. Whether in Karate or life, setting clear goals and working hard toward them creates the path to achievement.

The Power of Writing Down Your Goals

A goal is more than just a wish; it’s a commitment to action. Writing down your goals forces you to clarify what you truly want. Whether your goal is to achieve your next belt, master a specific technique, or earn your black belt, putting it on paper solidifies your intent and helps you stay on track.

Visual Reminders Keep You Motivated

Most people are visually inspired. If your goal is to become a black belt, find or draw a picture of a black belt and place it where you will see it daily—on your wall, in your notebook, or even on your phone. A visual reminder can reignite your drive every time you see it.

Celebrate Your Successes

Written goals allow you to track and celebrate your progress. Every belt promotion is a significant step forward and a reason to celebrate. Reward yourself in meaningful ways and reflect on how far you’ve come. These celebrations fuel your motivation for the journey ahead.

Questions to Think About:

  1. How many goals have you written down for Karate?
  2. Where will you place a visual reminder of your goal?
  3. How will you celebrate every belt promotion along your journey to becoming a black belt?
  4. What goals can you set outside of Karate to improve other areas of your life?

At Lewis Karate Schools, we are dedicated to helping students of all ages set and achieve their goals. Together, we can make 2025 a year of growth, success, and black belt determination.

Keep striving and stay motivated.
